Volunteers

Volunteers from this community are the life of every activity offered during the Festival. These dedicated people bring a diverse energy to the tasks that help to make the Festival a success. In all of the evaluations we receive regarding he effectiveness of the Festival, the attitude, helpfulness and caring of the people on the front line of contact have always been given the highest marks of satisfaction.

The 2013 Space Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival will rely on all volunteer levels to bring competence and dedication for the ultimate success of our efforts to provide an event that will encourage participants to return to Florida's Space Coast.

Volunteer services are utilized in the following areas:

• Registration : assists festival attendees who have pre-registered and are picking up ID, assists festival attendees who are registering for activities and gives each registered festival attendee a Welcome Bag.

• Door Monitor: assigned to each Classroom Presentation and Keynote to ensure that the attendee is registered for this activity and finds a seat, assures room comfort and introduces the Speaker.

• Bus/Transportation Monitor: assigned to ensure that the attendee is registered for this activity and finds a seat, provides water for the trip, loads lunches if appropriate and introduces the bus driver and Field Trip Leaders.

• Exhibit Center: assists the Festival Coordinator to welcome each Exhibitor, provide their Informational Packets and assist in locating their assigned booth. Helps keep files and required paperwork in order.

• Booth Sitter: assists Exhibitor as needed when booth would otherwise be empty.

• Silent Auction: assists Donors to complete gift information file, places and arranges auction items, prepares bid formats, assists bidders, prepares final bid documentation, announces final bids and handles payment for bid items.

• Welcome Bag preparation: group activity held at the Titusville Chamber of Commerce filling bags with donated items.

• General activities: assigned tasks by the Festival Coordinator or Executive Director before, during or after the festival.

The Festival holds an informal dinner for Volunteers as the kick-off of the festival season. This is an opportunity to greet returning Volunteers and meet new ones who are joining us for the first time. Following the Festival, we gather Volunteers and any other interested persons for a post-Festival meeting to review the good, the bad and the unusual in helping the next event to be a better one.
