Join wildlife and nature photographer/Certified Florida Master Naturalist Robert Amoruso for a morning or afternoon of in-depth field instruction at the area's best location for avian and wildlife photography. Robert is an associate of renowned avian photographer Arthur Morris and an approved BIRDS AS ART workshop leader. Robert's images have won numerous national and international contests and have been featured in publications including Audubon Magazine. His image of Royal Terns Courtship Dance won the Birds category of the 2006 Nature's Best Windland Smith Rice Int'l Photography Competition and was displayed at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Locations we will visit include MINWR's Black Point Wildlife Drive on the 27th and 28th, Bio Lab Road on the 26th, and Peacocks Pocket and/or Gator Creek Road as available. Bring cameras, wideangle lens, longest telephoto lens and tripods if you have one. We will be shooting close to the vehicles. Amoruso: Sunrise Landscape Photography Field Workshop - Canaveral National Seashore

He will demonstrate the techniques that he uses to create expressive, creative imagery including using neutral density filters, slow shutter speeds, hyper-focal distance and what it all means. Creating expressive imagery is more than pointing the camera and snapping the shutter. Using slow shutter speeds, turn water to silk. Learn to balance the sky and water luminance using filters. Heiberg: Photography Field Workshop - MINWR

Meet at 6:00 am at Parrish Park boat ramp area located on the left (north side adjacent to the picnic pavilions) just across the Titusville Bridge. (The sun will rise at about 7:12 am on these days, so please be on time.) We will proceed to MINWR from there.

Drive and stalk birds and other wildlife along the water's edge on Bio Lab Road. First, we will photograph a sunrise over the waters of Mosquito Lagoon. We will also set up our cameras for HDR photography. Next we will photograph the abundant bird life along the way, and stop at a favorite spot to see if the Scrub Jays are cooperative. Bring tripod, lots of media space, extra batteries, and a 300+ mm lens. The leader is Milton Heiberg - teacher of the nature photography for 20 years at NYC Audubon Society, and now (12+ years) at The Crealdé School of Art in Orlando and at DPA (Digital Photo Academy) - the Panasonic/Lumix National School of Photography. He is the author of seven books on photography. Many of his students have become well published and noted nature photographers (which includes Florida's own Arthur Morris). You will receive a gratis copy of Milton's book: The Essentials of Nature Photography.

Heiberg: Photography's New Software Work Flow

Karlson: Tips for Composing & Capturing the Best Possible Wildlife Image - Special Emphasis on Flight & Action Techniques & Camera Settings

This short indoor photo workshop covers a number of basic photographic principles. The introduction covers basic composition and awareness of lighting, with compensation and camera settings for light and dark subjects explained. Special attention is given to flight and action photography techniques, with detailed instruction about how to capture the best possible action or flight photo. Different camera settings for a variety of field situations are covered, and handheld and tripod telephoto action photography is explained with on-site demonstrations. If you want to take your action photography to the next level, this is a good workshop for you.

Karlson: Outdoor Photography Workshop: Focus on Composition, Flight & Birds in Action - Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands at Viera
